“For Acumatica users, the ability to quickly summarize and analyze data that is stored in the ERP is important for making precise and quick decisions. With Acumatica, it’s very easy to analyze your data with our of the box analysis and reporting tools like dashboards, generic inquiries, and pivot tables. With the latest version of Acumatica, we have made enhancements to our pivot table capabilities. The first enhancement is the ability to use the distinct count functionality when users want to exclude duplicates in count totals.

Suppose I am a sales manager and I want to know the number of distinct customers that have placed orders for a specific time period. For this demonstration, I have created a pivot table that shows the number of customers that have placed orders by month. But if I look a little closer, I can see that in reality, I have 33 orders placed, but not by 33 different customers. If I wanted to see the number of distinct customers that have placed orders by month, I will need to use the new count distinct functionality. If we take a look at our existing pivot table, I see that I have two rows, date and customer name.

If I click on the customer in the values column, then the existing pivot table is counting all of the customers. In previous versions, we only had the ability to count all records. With the latest version of Acumatica, you now have the ability to aggregate by counting each distinct record. Let’s make this simple change and re-run the pivot table. Now we can see that we have 17 distinct customers that have placed orders in February. The next enhancement is the ability to see values as a percentage of a row or a column.

Now suppose that as a sales manager, I also want to see a listing of all of my orders by status taken per month. I want to see the percentage of orders that I’m taking in a month versus the total percent shipped and invoiced. For this demonstration, I have created a pivot table that shows the total number of orders taken by month broken out by status. If we take a look at our existing pivot table, then this is similar to the last pivot table that we looked at with the addition of the status column. If I click on the customer in the values column, then the existing pivot table is showing the value as a number.

With prior versions, we had the ability to show the value as a percentage of the grand total. If I select the percent of grand total, then this shows each value in the table as a percentage of the grand total. But for our use case, we want to see our value as a percentage of orders for each month. So if we go back and we edit our pivot table, click on the customer value and this time select percent of row total, and then take a look at our pivot table, we can see our values by month, instead of as a percentage of the grand total.

In summary, Acumatica continues to build value into the core application by enabling customers to build dashboards, generic inquiries, and pivot tables. These tools allow decision-makers to view and interpret data and drive important business decisions. The latest enhancements to pivot tables help users to eliminate duplicate results by counting distinct values and select data and evaluate results as a percentage of a row or a column. Acumatica continues to deliver functionality to transform your business to thrive in the new digital economy.
