If you are distribution company that deals with perishable items you need to focus on moving your inventory fast. But what if you are stocking inventory that is close to its expiration date?
If you are using Microsoft Dynamics GP with SalesPad you can easily track and locate these items. Then you can get creative and sell those items at a discount. After all, getting a discounted price is better than getting no price at all.
To track this you would simply create a SalesPad Quick Report that pulls information from the Microsoft Dynamics GP SQL tables.
You would track:
Item #, Serial or Lot #, Expiration Date, Warehouse/Location, Quantities, Unit Cost (so you know exactly what margin or loss you’re taking)
This custom report can easily be built once, and then accessed over and over again with the click of a button.
One of our distribution clients using Microsoft Dynamics with SalesPad will run their “Low Expiration Inventory” report with unit cost and send it to select customers. Depending on the items, customer, and quantities to be moved they could get it at cost or cost +/- a few percent.
