Companies using Payroll in Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 or GP 2013 will need to update to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 YE (Year End) or 2013 YE (Year End) BEFORE the end of this year.
If you do not update your system you will not be able to install the necessary tax updates for Microsoft Dynamics GP Payroll. Payroll and AP clients who run 1099s are going to need to be on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 YE or GP 2013 YE.
What happens if you do not install these tax updates?
If you do not move to YE and install the tax updates:
- Forms won’t print correctly.
- You can’t use electronic filing with IRS.
- You will be unable to use Greenshades (as they update their tables based on Microsoft updates).
Is this a full upgrade?
In essence, the year-end service pack is an update to the latest version. However, there are a couple of reasons why this is less expensive than regular upgrades.
First, payroll clients get a year-end service pack every year. Therefore, they are always on a more up-to-date version and hence, easier to update.
Second, the payroll year-end updates are released for the latest 2 versions (in this case GP 2010 and GP 2013). So if you are on a payroll client on GP 2010, we are not going to be bringing you to GP 2013 R2. We will only be bringing you to the latest service pack on GP 2010. If you wanted to go from GP 2010 to GP 2013, we will need to do a full discovery and upgrade. (See: 6 Tips to Lower The Cost of A Dynamics GP Upgrade)
When do you need to schedule the YE update?
It is very, very important that our clients running payroll on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 or Dynamics GP 2013 contact us as soon as possible. Our schedules are already filling up with year-end activities.
Caution: Updating from Dynamics GP 2013 to GP 2013 R2 may cause certain ISV products to fail. Please contact CAL if you have a question about a specific ISV.
