I hate it when companies are over-sold by a salesperson. In my experience, one of the most guaranteed ways to buy more than you need is to pay for an expensive discovery report before you buy Dynamics GP. I just met with a distribution company using Microsoft Dynamics GP. They had paid $12,000 to a large Dynamics GP partner for a “business analysis”. I saw a copy of the report. I was not impressed. Now, almost 2 years later this company is way over budget and they are still not where they should be at this point.
Almost every company has some kind of automated accounting software today. But modern accounting is not about just getting the numbers to balance. It is about using the numbers to make better decisions and transform the organization. The right technology helps companies view, analyze and share information in ways they never thought possible. This can make a dramatic impact on the success of a business and you can be part of that success. It is a job with meaning.

While you are there sign up to receive our e-newsletter, or automatic email alerts from our blog, so that you will never miss a new Dynamics GP tip.
Why do they have to change everything? That is always my first question when I do a software upgrade. I remember spending an hour looking for the Print button when Office 2010. And the frustration I felt after realizing that the “Advanced Find” button in Dynamics CRM was now that tiny wheel icon in the corner.
The software has certainly improved over the years, but the core features users loved about Great Plains software are still the same. Dynamics GP is still a stable, core financial system that just works.
The price of Microsoft Dynamics GP financial accounting software systems for distributors can vary widely. You may need simple inventory tracking all the way up to a full warehouse management system (WMS). In order to start the conversation, and make sure we are all in the same ballpark, here are some guidelines.
Many distribution companies own a Microsoft Dynamics GP solution. Perhaps you even purchased it back in the old “Great Plains” days. Your business may have started out simple, and Dynamics GP (Great Plains) was just your core financial system. Over the years maybe you added on other disparate systems for inventory management and product configuration.
Does your distribution company need better inventory management software? Here are 5 signs that you to make a change:
Dynamics GP 2015 has been out for almost 6 months now, and summer is a great time to plan your upgrade. Here are a few features that I am the most excited about in Dynamics GP 2015.
Even if you are still evaluating Dynamics GP for a future purchase it is a good idea to budget the cost of upgrades and know what type of information you need to track.
This system will allow you to easily submit support requests via email and receive confirmation and status update emails for your support request.
